ExecuJet Africa’s maintenance division has today signed an agreement extending its distributorship for Blackhawk upgrades to the Caravan 208. The agreement was signed at the Africa Aerospace and Defence Show taking place at Waterkloof Airforce Base.Jim Allmon, President-CEO of Blackhawk says, “The extended distributorship with ExecuJet Africa plays an important role in implementing the upgrades across Africa. We already have implementation in Tanzania and look forward to further expansion.”
Since May 1999, Blackhawk has upgraded nearly 400 aircraft with new Pratt & Whitney PT6A engines, making them the most successful turboprop engine upgrade company in the world. In September of 2012, Blackhawk started installing factory new PT6A-42A engines in the Grand Caravan and have completed 21 Caravans to date in service throughout the world.
The engine upgrade provides an improved take off and climbing capability as well as providing more carrying capacity. From a commercial perspective, operators benefit with the ability to increase profits by carrying more payload from shorter runways and especially from hot, high-altitude airports.
