WICHITA, Kan., Sept. 20, 2010 – Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, is one of the first aviation companies to be approved by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration to participate in the Certified Cargo Screening Program for aviation parts shipments.
“This approval permits Cessna’s Service Parts & Programs organization to ship aircraft parts to repair stations and customers via passenger airlines without delay for inspection or screening,” said Bill Collier, vice president of Cessna’s Service Parts & Programs. “This new process should be transparent to our customers and they will benefit from faster deliveries,” he said.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) created the Certified Cargo Screening Program (CCSP), which allows certified facilities across the country to screen cargo before it reaches the airport. CCSP facilities are approved by TSA and adhere to strict security standards. Cessna processes screen employees and contractors to meet these TSA standards.
