8020’s Julia Craggs wins national pr award

This week, we had the huge pleasure of seeing 8020 account executive Julia Craggs named winner of the PRCA’s Reginald Watts Award for PR Insight.

This annual prize commemorates the thought leadership, writing and forethought of the late Reggie Watts, a highly influential figure in the development of the UK’s PR industry. The scheme challenges participants aged 25 or under to write thought-provoking essays on the PR and communications industry.

Julia’s essay, which competed with 40 other entrants, addressed this year’s provocative brief: ‘Public relations today is horrible. Any dope, any nitwit, any idiot can call him or herself a public relations practitioner.” Edward Bernays, 1991. Is he right?’  You can read Julia’s skillfully argued response here.

The victor: Julia is congratulated by Reggie Watts’ widow Sue and Matt Cartmell, the PRCA’s communications, marketing and events director.
