RocketRoute And Airbox Partner For VFR Flight Planning

Aviation - 29th March 2011

Guildford, UK, 29 March 2011 – European online flight planning company RocketRoute and leading edge navigation company Airbox Aerospace (‘Airbox’) are today launching a partnership to bring the best of both companies’ technologies and services to pilots across Europe.

The partnership covers four areas of collaboration:

1. RocketRoute and Airbox will share key Visual Flight Rules (VFR) data, such as airspace information, weather and airfield information, to bring the highest levels of data integrity to their respective customers.

2. Airbox will add RocketRoute’s real-time flight plan filing capability to its newly re-launched desktop VFR flight planning application, FastPlan.

3. RocketRoute and Airbox will allow customers to sync their route, aircraft and other data between Airbox navigation devices and the RocketRoute Online Flight Centre.

4. Airbox will resell RocketRoute’s 24/7 Operations Team trip support services and emergency planning support.

RocketRoute and Airbox will be exhibiting at the Aero Friedrichshafen air show in Germany from 13-16 April, promoting the products and services that will result from their collaboration.

“An obvious synergy exists between Airbox Aerospace and RocketRoute, which makes this partnership so compelling,” explained William Moore, Airbox’s technical director. “Both our organisations have three core objectives: to provide simple, easy-to-use software to our customers; to ensure the integrity of our data is of the highest standards; and to provide our customers with the very best support.”

RocketRoute offers comprehensive online support to general aviation pilots flying instrument flight rules (IFR) or VFR across Europe. RocketRoute members receive 24/7 flight planning, filing and management support. RocketRoute’s 24/7 operations team, available on a telephone hotline for flight planning, worldwide bespoke trip preparation and emergencies, complements the company’s online service. Since its market introduction in late 2010, RocketRoute has processed over 30,000 routes and filed more than 3,000 flight plans.

Kurt Lyall, co-founder of RocketRoute, commented: “Airbox stands out for us one of the innovators in European aviation today. We are delighted to be working together and are confident pilots will enjoy the combined products and services our companies will now bring to market.”
