Sandy Balls: the inadvertent internet sensation

Media - 23rd February 2010

Sandy Balls, a Hampshire-based holiday centre targeting families, sought a pleasant promotional video to showcase its beautiful New Forest surroundings and the various lodgings available. What they received, according to BrandRepublic, was a cross between Baz Lurhmann’s Australia and the Sound of Music.

Unfortunately the clip was placed on YouTube and the well-known FailBlog in the US embedded the video in a post entitled Resort Name FAIL.

With well over 30,000 views to date, Sandy Balls has become a legitimate viral hit – but perhaps for all the wrong reasons! (Or is this a masterstroke of knowing marketing – what do you think?)
