BBGA annual meeting

Aviation - 9th March 2010

To St Albans for the annual meeting of the British Business & General Aviation Association. Marc was on hand as ‘lovely assistant’ to Cessna’s VP of Communications, Bob Stangarone, who gave a multimedia presentation on what Cessna and the industry have been doing in the US to counter the misrepresentation of business aviation.

Keen aviator Lembit Opik MP gave a good speech on what the industry should do to fight its corner in the UK and Europe. The audience was well-behaved – not a single Cheeky Girl heckle was heard.

Met Andrew Haines, the new CEO of the Civil Aviation Authority, who also made a speech. While arriving in the aviation sector with a background in rail seems unenviable, he has set out by learning as much about business aviation as possible, which was certainly a good way to win over the room. Early days, but initial impressions are good.
