Maddox Consulting (www.maddoxconsulting.com) is a strategic management consultancy specialising in the transport, travel and leisure sectors.

80:20 Communications was appointed by the firm on a project basis to promote its specialist expertise through trade and business media.

Response

We engaged in a programme of thought leadership, drafting and placing expert opinion piece articles for Maddox in aviation and travel trade media.

We promoted Maddox’s insights through media briefings, arranging interviews with the Financial Times about Heathrow Airport and business aviation, and with the Daily Mail about the Government’s transport spending plans.

We highlighted a strengthening of Maddox’s team, promoting the appointment of a new aviation practice head.

We helped Maddox improve the impact of its messages by redrafting its website and corporate brochure content.

Highlights:

• We drafted and placed an opinion piece article in travel technology publication Tnooz, discussing how high street travel agents should improve their online offering and capitalise on opportunities offered by social media.
• We drafted and placed an article in the top airport trade publication, Airports International, outlining ways for airports to improve ground transportation strategies for an improved passenger experience.
• The editor of Airports International was so pleased with the above article that he requested a further contribution from Maddox, again drafted by 80:20 Communications in collaboration with the client. This second article discussed opportunities for airlines and airports to better integrate their planning for mutual benefit.
• Through our relationship with Flight International, we secured prominent coverage in the magazine for the appointment of Maddox’s aviation practice head, supported by a portrait photograph.
• Maddox Consulting’s comments were included in a Financial Times article considering the need for a more coherent Government strategy for London’s airports.
